I was listening to a 16 bit signed wav file sampled at 11025 S/s. It is a
speach sample, "play" plays it very well, but alsaplayer-0.99.31 with
alsa-0.5.2 on 2.2.15 kernel (Debian potato) plays it at 44100 introducing
very unpleasant high frequency distorsions.
I understand the reasons for resampling (although it should not be done in
simple cases of just playing the file) but it should use some good algorithm
like that present in "sox".
I can supply the file I have used on request.
I am using SB32 AWE PnP.
