If you look in the ChangeLog, FLAC support was in Alsaplayer already in May
2002. It was able to receive remote FLAC stream in Feb 2003. This release will
change nothing for you. If you are not able to read your FLAC files with
Alsaplayer on Debian, this is a Debian related problem and must be reported in
the debian bugzilla system.

For Debian, it is several alsaplayer packages:
http://packages.debian.org/cgi-bin/search_packages.pl?keywords=alsaplayer&searchon=names&subword=1&version=all&release=all
Be sure at you installed all the packages for a given alsaplayer-version.

This release was done because most distributions are working hard to support
FLAC>=1.3, and those recent FLAC library versions are incompatibles with older
FLAC versions, and they cannot be sloted.

It implies at you cannot have both FLAC libraries in a given system. With this
release, Alsaplayer can be compiled with FLAC support no matter which FLAC
library version your system is using.

Cheers,
Dominique
