i don't like many things in cddb even though i don't use it (did only to
add http)
there are many ways to improve it (from taking proper care, though  copy
a code from other project, to integrate it with some library)
but like i said before i cannot do it because i don't have cds with
problems you outlined (basically i don't have music cds at all)

so we have 3 possibilities:
1 - find somebody to fix/change it (donate me cds and i'll do it)
2 - forget about it and leave it as it is (at least before rc2)
3 - drop cddb support (we can leave cdda, don't have to though)
