The gtk1 interface is crashing at startup due to this commit:
http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?thread_name=E1HzHYK-0007Rl-Lw%40sc8-pr-svn1.sourceforge.net&forum_name=alsaplayer-commits

mad patch, add extende header support in mp3 files (utf-8, utf-16, utf-16be,
iso-8859-1)

This change in the mad input plugin is mandatory to get full unicode support in
gtk2, but it break gtk1.

I tested thew other interfaces (gtk2, daemon, text, xosd) and they are working.
Please report how they are working on other architectures as x86.

What can we do about it? I see a few possibility:

- someone fix gtk1 to at least get it to compile.

- made a last gtk1 release with the state of the cvs before this commit,
drop gtk1 support in the future releases, and:

a) completely remove the gtk folder from the svn repo
b) remove just the references to gtk1 into the makefiles and configure files; it
will still be into the svn repo (but will not be compiled or installed anymore)
but not in the released tarballs.
