Backport changes from trunk:
configure.ac: Try `$(PHP_CONFIG) --php-binary` when looking for a
PHP interpreter - this works with PHP5.
configure.ac: Fix handling of `$PHP_CONFIG --php-binary` - if it's
not supported, we get a usage message on stdout which we don't want
to try as a potential PHP interpreter!
