From dj at zap.tartarus.org Wed Jan 2 21:56:22 2008 From: dj at zap.tartarus.org (James Aylett) Date: Wed Jan 2 21:56:54 2008 Subject: Zap ftp site: going, going... Message-ID: <20080102215622.GV11944@zap.tartarus.org> Hi, all. This is to announce the slow but inevitable phasing-out of the Zap ftp site. The website contains its own download area (/ftp/pub/ for old times' sake, or /downloads/ for simplicity) which is linked throughout the website, and has been for some time. The current documentation mentions the ftp site, which is unfortunate; it would be nice to get say a beta2 of 1.47 out with corrected documentation before the ftp site dies. If not, there should be sufficient pointers in the manual, on Google, as so forth, to drive people to the website. The website and mailing lists will continue running as normal. The current ftp site will continue running as long as the machine it lives on. It should be good for a couple of months from now at least, but I may only get a month's notice if I need to turn it off, which is why I'm officially deprecating the ftp site now. Those among you with particularly keen attention (or little to do) will have noticed that snapshots stopped being updated about a month ago. Since there hasn't been a substantive checkin to the Zap codebase in what looks like a couple of years, I doubt this will cause problems to anyone ;-). If we need it again at some point in the future, I'll bring the snapshots back.
