As far as I can remember (I don't have mine to hand at the moment), Garmin
GPS 12 supports a limited capability for a User Defined Grid and Ellipsoid.
It only supports Transverse Mercator transformations (hence it does not
support Laborde). Luckily, that includes Ireland, so this could well work.
Let me know if you want me to send you the parameters for Ireland. They are
available from a number of sources, including, of course, my favourite NIMA
DTCC4.
NIMAs DTCC4 can also be used to post-process any GPS data downloaded to your
PC. I've pre-processed the GarDown output text file by loading into Excel
and splitting out the various columns, then cut and paste the columns to
make it look like a DTCC input file. DTCC churns through the input file and
outputs a similar file in the chosen grid system.
