I don't know if there was something wrong with my computer when
I tried that site but the quality of the surveys in the Java
applet certainly went some way towards keeping surveys secret ;-)
Coincidentally a few days after my question I received this on
a different mailing list:
"People might also be interested to know that the survey data [for
Marilyn] (scanned survey notes, survex file, final drawn up version)
is available from the new Cave Data Repository that Julian Todd and
Erin Lynch have set up on the KnowledgeForge website
http://www.knowledgeforge.net/project/sesame/
(look under http://project.knowledgeforge.net/sesame/club/cpc)."
