Thanks you so much. I knew you would have thought of this sort of issue
already. Nice to know that the system already provides what I needed.

(The only writing I could find about this was a past thread where
someone had taken 2 GPS readings on Madagascar with 5 m confidence, and
then surveyed between them with 2 m confidence, and got a 12 m error,
and needed to manually displace the "fixed" stations more than the
survey. Your solution solves that too.)
