Hi Paolo! I did say I'd look at your suggested change to the Italian stemmer.

I think I'll have to leave a proper investigation until I can set some time
aside to look at it rather carefully. The problem is that the Italian
stemmer is parallel to the stemmers for Spanish, Portuguese, French and
Romanian in this respect, and altering one means reassessing them all. (See

). There is clearly quite a bit of work in that. Meanwhile, if there are
other improvements you find you can make, or you can observe better
performance, please let us know. These days we are not getting much feedback
of that kind,
