I think you are right.

I have been made aware of this example before, and it has been used in
a textbook (Ribeiro-Neto and Baeza-Yates 1st edition, perhaps?)

I'll look into it in the new year, as an example for final inclusion,
but trying to alter the snowball stemmers as little as possible these
days.
