Back in January, I wrote in the 2.1.0 release announcement:

> Our release frequency is improving (1¼ years this time vs 5 years for
> the previous release) but I'm going to aim to make at least a couple
> of releases per year.

So we've achieved that.

There are still patches in progress on github, but as you can see from
the list of changes linked above there are already a lot of changes in
this release so it seemed better to get it out rather than delaying
until more changes are merged.

If you've submitted a patch which hasn't yet been merged, please check
on it - there are a few where I or someone else has given feedback and
had no further response from the submitter.  I think some people may
have disabled github email notifications, or they get filtered out as
spam.

A big thanks to all the people who've contributed to this release - in
