Just to add my 2c to the aven interface and tooltips discussion...

I always thought the rotate/zoom left button combo on Aven wasn't very
useful. I think the rotate/tilt combo is MUCH better. I like the idea
of shift and ctrl to lock out one or the other.

As a long-time unix user I expect the move function to be the middle
button not the right button. I don't think this is big deal though,
overall I find the new controls much more as I expect.

I find tooltips annoying and almost always turn them off. If these are
provided then I think it would be persistent way to keep the setting (user
config file or environment variable). Overall, I think the effort would
probably be better spent creating a comprehensive manual.
