Haven't had time, and won't until at least July now :-(

That would be a fairly easy fix, although the syntax would then be
unpleasant. Indeed, I think I committed half - it's in my local copy,
but isn't in the diff from the trunk to that.

I renamed the writable one to open_writable. Should be obvious how to
rename open() r/o to xapian_open() or something ...
