OK, gmake fixes the skipped dependencies. 

the ./configure LDFLAGS = -no_prelink fails.  Some of the loads won't 
work with that flag.  They can't resolve some of the references.  It's 
only the omindex step that needs it.

And I'm building in the source directory.
