The sections are rather different for Debian. The current list is:
admin, base, comm, contrib, devel, doc, editors, electronics,
embedded, games, gnome, graphics, hamradio, interpreters, kde, libs,
libdevel, mail, math, misc, net, news, oldlibs, otherosfs, perl,
python, science, shells, sound, tex, text, utils, web, x11
Richard picked "utils" for the corresponding debian package.
Debian has a separate (though similar) list for categorising packages
in desktop menus - that's not really relevant here though, as none
of these programs can sensibly be run from a desktop menu (they all
require parameters).
