If it's a boolean prefix, any character is allowed apart from whitespace
and ')'.  The reason for excluding ')' is so that we parse boolean
queries with brackets correctly - if that actually bothered someone, we
could probably handle this in a more subtle way (e.g. check if the term
exists including the ')').
