Ok, I have been reading that file more extensively now, along with  
the final section about debian-packages (which is what I want to  
achieve in the end).

I have tried to follow the steps in make-source-package for building  
a source-package that I can later build a binary package from, but I  
cannot seem to make it compile the source-package I built. The  
languages/ directory is empty (as it also is in the build-nodebug  
directory of my working copy).

In the svn checkout I am however able to build the missing languages/ 
<lang>.cc files by running make in that directory.

any pointers to where I can look or what I can do?

I guess I in way over my head here, but I would really like to get  
this to work as a debian package.
