I think it would be better to choose a new name for this.  Calling it
"xapian_omindex" is just going to cause confusion, and we'll inevitable
get somewhat vague reports of bugs in "omindex" which after
investigation turn out to actually be in this python indexer, which just
wastes everyone's time.
